I’m excited!

Well, folks, the paperwork has been submitted and I’m officially a Democratic candidate for State Representative of Iowa’s 16th District. And I am excited!

I’m excited because I know that things are good, here in northeast Iowa, but we can make them better! I’m excited about the opportunity to represent you and be your voice in our Capitol! I’m excited about the opportunity to meet thousands of intelligent, dynamic people who care about Iowa’s future and the role we play in making this the best District in the state!

As I spent time exploring the grounds and marveling at Iowa’s heritage, I was struck by the words on a panel in the Capitol building.

“Courageous confidence in the intelligence of the Community is the sure sign of leadership and success”

“The ideal State - that in which an injury done to the least of its citizens is an injury done to all”

The sure sign of leadership and success… That’s pretty powerful, isn’t it? As a candidate and, with your help, a Representative, I know that my success and the success of northeast Iowa depend on you. Your voice matters and it’s time your voice was heard!

Here I am, in front of the Iowa State Constitution, during my day in Des Moines. I only wish the picture looked as great as I felt.
